8 Items You Cannot Live Without in Your Freshman Year Dorm Room

1. Steamer

What a lifesaver a steamer is! It takes 2 minutes to heat up, and your clothes will be wrinkle free in no time.

2. Standing Fan

A fan is so nice to have in a dorm room. Since dorms do not have ceiling fans, a standing fan on your bedside table is so nice to keep the air circulating.

3. Ottoman

My ottoman was my favorite storage tool freshman year. It can hold snacks, shoes, or whatever you need. Plus, it is great to use to step onto your bed.

4. Mini Vacuum

A mini vacuum was a lifesaver freshman year. Your rug gets so much dirtier than you think! Whether it is your shoes, people in your room, or hair (the worst), I promise you need a vacumm. This one is small and easy to store.

5. Large Storage Bags

Large storage bags are ideal for move-in. Keep these bags to use when you are transporting items back and forth to home. I still have mine since freshman year.

6. Speaker

Such a fun one! A speaker was amazing to have in our room to listen to music in the shower or when people would hangout in our room. A party rocker is the best.

7. Sound Machine

A sound machine is great to tune out any dorm room noise or help you sleep if your roommate’s alarm goes off.

8. Drying Rack

A drying rack is a must-have freshman year! It is so easy to take up and down to dry any clothes that you need.
